"CHANGE THE WORLD" is the first opening theme from the InuYasha anime, performed by the Japanese boy band V6. The group also did the ending theme "Brand-New World".

Description

The opening begins with a shot atop a mountain -- where Kagome, Inuyasha, Miroku, and Sango are gazing over -- before cutting to a short clip of Kagome's wonderstruck expression as she turns her head to face the group. Next, it cuts to the wellhouse at the Higurashi shrine where Kagome dashes into the opening of the Bone-Eater's Well, revealing the new, Feudal era world as Kagome glides in from the sky. The InuYasha logo is shown here.

A brief, flash montage shows a farmer's cow, rapidly growing vines, and birds splashing in a water puddle before cutting to a scene of Inuyasha fighting Sesshōmaru. After this scene, a pedestal shot is shown of Sango, Miroku, and Shippō, as he transforms out of his bubble form. It cuts to the three combating a hoard of demons, where Miroku uses his Kazaana, and Sango uses the Hiraikotsu.

As the more mellow part of CHANGE THE WORLD begins playing, Inuyasha and Kagome are shown standing in front of the Sacred Tree. As Kagome vanishes as the scene turns to a dark purple hue, Inuyasha worriedly turns around to look for her before Kikyō fades into the scene, behind Inuyasha. A shocked Inuyasha turns to face Kikyō, and he attempts to embrace her, but she disappears just before Inuyasha can reach her. After Kikyō disappears, a Sacred Arrow pierces Inuyasha in the chest, alluding to the opening scene in the first episode.

During the chorus of the song, Inuyasha stands on the edge of a cliff in the wind while a large flock of birds fly by him. He walks through a forest of sakura trees as the blossoms' pedals fall. When Inuyasha reaches a sandy beach, he turns around and looks up to see Kirara flying towards him with the rest of the group perched on the nekomata's back. When Kagome reaches her hand towards Inuyasha as Kirara flies past him, he grabs onto her hand as Kirara lifts Inuyasha into the air along with the group. Inuyasha gazes up at the party in wonder for a few moments before showing a relieved smile, as Kirara pulls everyone up into the air.

Notes

• A different instrumental version, Shippū no Gotoku (疾風の如く, "Like A Storm") replaces CHANGE THE WORLD as the opening theme in some territories due to licensing issues with the original opening song.
• In the instrumental version of the opening, the brief flash montage of a farmer's cow, rapidly growing vines, and birds splashing in a water puddle that usually plays before cutting to the scene of the fight scene between Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru in the original opening is removed.
