The Ogre of the Burial Mound is the 229th chapter of InuYasha manga.

Synopsis[]

  • After Hiraikotsu and Tessaiga fail, Miroku uses his Sacred Sutras, which are able to destroy the Ogre's head. Miroku says they didn't really defeat it though; it was an illusion. The real Ogre's head is still hiding in the castle somewhere.
  • The princess of the castle wishes to speak privately with Miroku, igniting Sango's jealousy. Haori gives Miroku a packet of her demon-exorcising purification salt, just in case he runs into the demon.
  • The Lord of the castle attacks another servant and then turns into an Ogre, making Inuyasha, Kagome, and Sango believe he was possessed after all.
  • The Princess leads Miroku to a pit full of human bones, which she explains are the bones of Monks and Priestesses who tried to exorcise the castle, but instead became spiritual fodder for the Ogre. Miroku starts to feel weak because of a demonic aura nearby.
  • Miroku tosses the purification salt on the Princess, which exposes her true form; an Ogre. She says she'll have plenty of time to eat Miroku and his spiritual power, because the half-demon and the others are busy battling an imitation Ogre.
