From InuYasha
Inuyasha- the main character. Inuyasha is a hanyou, or half-demon, and was born from the great demon Inutaisho. His mother, Izayoi, was a great mortal, but as a child, Inuyasha was troubled, with no side to turn to. He was in no man's land. At first, he appears to be a violent, insolent boy, but gradually, you see his feelings show for Kagome. He lives in the Sengoku Jidai of Japan, or Warring States Era.
Kagome- second most important character. When we first see Kagome, she is an 8th grade student in present-day Japan.(The earlier episodes vary in her clothing, making her outfit sometimes short-sleeved and then long-sleeved.) She comes to the Sengoku Jidai all because of her cat, Buyo, who she was looking for before "Mistress Centipede" pulled her through the family well (in their shrine), while looking for the Shikon no Tama, or Jewel of Four Souls, that increases a demon's powers. Early in the 167-part series, Kagome shatters the jewel with a bow and arrow, which draws the path for Inuyasha's group.
Miroku- a lecherous Buddhist monk. To 99% of the women he meets, he asks them to bear his child. (sweat-drop...) His kazaana (wind tunnel)is a valuable weapon in his hand, and often he uses it against enemies. Being a monk, he is considered the smartest of Inuyasha's group, and is helpful to tell tales that apply to their adventures.
Sango- a youkai taijiya, or demon slayer. She comes into the group after being decieved by Naraku, and lusts for "vengeance" against Inuyasha for razing her village. This was a tale that Naraku made up. In a short time, Sango is told the truth by Inuyasha, and now wishes to kill Naraku, along with the rest, who all have their reasons.
Naraku- main villain. Though there are usually only one group of villains per episode, Naraku is the villain for every episode. Inuyasha's group is always trying to find a way to destroy Naraku, though sometimes the story strays and comes completely away from the plot, inserting a funny episode that makes you love the anime even more. Naraku has the ability to create demons from the demons that complete him, such as Kagura, wind-demon, and Kanna, a personification of nothingness. Naraku often sends out decoys of himself, perhaps with Kagura, to retrieve shards of the Shikon no Tama.

Janis - the main character of InuYasha: Secret of the Divine Jewel for the Nintendo DS. She is the reincarnation of the half god and half human daughter of the god Datara.
Kaname-the main character of Inuyasha:Secret of the Cursed Mask for Playstation 2.She is the desendent of a male Kakaju and a female Utsugi.
Michiru-the main character of Inuyasha:Secret of the Cursed Mask for Playstation 2.He is the desendent of a female Kakaju and a male Utsugi.
