Princess Abi's demon birds attacking a village.

Demon birds were pterodactyl-like "birds" which served Princess Abi and her mother, Tekkei. They were used to suck blood from humans to dilute the poison in Tekkei's body. When threatened or cornered, they had the ability to set themselves on fire in order to force humans out of buildings or caves. They also seemed to have the option of eating insects if need be, as Abi once had them feed on/get rid of Naraku's Saimyōshō by devouring them, and the birds were unaffected by the poison.
