Hakudōshi and Entei watch as Princess Abi's bird demons slaughter the inhabitants of a village. A few survivors leave after the bird demons have left.

Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippō, Sango and Miroku come upon the destroyed village. They decide they must find the nest for Princess Abi and her demons.

Rin and Jaken wait in a field for Sesshōmaru when Kagura arrives. When she finds Sesshōmaru gone, she departs, considering her options in her never-ending efforts to free herself from Naraku.

A woman awakens, surrounded by servants. She asks for her newborn child, saying he should be crying and she cannot hear him. The servants tell her that her son was stillborn, then all fall dead. Kanna and Kohaku enter, holding the other infant. Kanna assures the lady that her child is not dead, he is here.

Meanwhile, Inuyasha and companions continue to seek the nest of Princess Abi. Along the way, they encounter the survivors from the village. The survivors speak of the Holy One all the survivors of the local attacks are seeking. Realizing this is a set up, Inuyasha and his companions hurry to stop the inevitable attack.

Kagura and Hakudōshi delay Inuyasha and friends while Princess Abi and her demon birds attack the shrine where the locals have flocked. Inuyasha attacks Hakudōshi with his Red Tessaiga, but is unable to break Hakudōshi's barrier. But the Holy One shoots a sacred arrow and dispels Hakudōshi's barrier.

Inuyasha uses the opportunity to attack, but Kagura flees with Hakudōshi's head. Entei attacks Inuyasha, but is eventually defeated when Inuyasha uses his backlash wave.
