Onigumo1

Inuyasha locks the Bone-Eater's Well with a gigantic tree so that Kagome doesn’t appear again in the Feudal Era. Shippō asks Inuyasha what was he doing. Inuyasha tells Shippō to shut up. Shippō says to Inuyasha if he destroys the Bone-Eater's Well, Kagome won't be able to return and doesn't he care if he never see her again. Inuyasha tells Shippō that when Kagome's around he can't fight the way he wants and starts to leave. Inuyasha tells Miroku they are leaving. Miroku asks where to. Inuyasha says it obvious to find Naraku and beat the hell out him. Miroku asks Shippō if he's going to. Shippō refuses as he hates Inuyasha, who doesn't even care. Miroku says to Inuyasha he thinks he was a bit too rough and even though he understands he didn't want Kagome to get hurt. Inuyasha tells Miroku if he understand then shut up.

Miroku says to Inuyasha if he's going to look for Naraku but how will he find him and does he have any ideas. Inuyasha doesn't give an answer. Miroku suspects Inuyasha doesn't know. Inuyasha tells Miroku to shut up. Miroku tells Inuyasha to send Kagome back and just because she isn't here now don't take it out on him, making Inuyasha annoyed. Miroku sits down on a rock and says they need to calm down and think things through. Inuyasha says they don't have the time. Miroku tells Inuyasha he wants to find Naraku quickly and slay him with his hands as 50 years ago he opened the Wind Tunnel on his grandfather's hand and the curse has carried over generation after generation to him. Inuyasha sits next to Miroku and tells him he's not good at thinking and he should think of something. Miroku says these things must be taken in order and asks Inuyasha he said he fell into Naraku's trap 50 years ago in this village. Inuyasha confirms it. Miroku asks Inuyasha he's met Naraku. Inuyasha says not exactly.

In the flashback, Kikyō tells Inuyasha he can become a human if he uses the Sacred Jewel right here tomorrow at dawn she'll bring the Sacred Jewel. Inuyasha was standing by the Sacred Tree when he was attacked by arrows from 'Kikyō', surprising him. 'Kikyō' tells Inuyasha to die. Inuyasha tells Miroku that even if he met Naraku he was disguised as Kikyō and he doesn't know what he looks like. Miroku says that's the strange part that Inuyasha doesn't know Naraku yet he disguised himself as Kikyō and shot an arrow at him and asks did he do something that embittered him. Inuyasha says he's never seen Naraku's face and asks how would he know. Miroku says in any case Kikyō was a priestess and it could be that Naraku had something to do with her rather than him. Inuyasha questions about Kikyō and Naraku and thinks about Kikyō.

In the meantime, Kagome is reunited with her friends Yuka, Eri, and Ayumi and goes to school again - she has no choice, as she cannot easily return to the Feudal Era. She longs to see Inuyasha again. Miroku drinks tea as Kaede takes care of Inuyasha because he has the very bad injury of Sesshōmaru. Kaede tells Inuyasha with these injuries he won't be able to fight for awhile. Inuyasha tells Kaede to shut up as he'll be better in a few days. Kaede suspects Inuyasha is trying to act brave and says she's done before touches his back. Inuyasha groans in pain and asks Kaede what was she doing.

Kaede says to Inuyasha with that kind of energy he may recover quickly and she has been thinking ever since her older sister Kikyō was resurrected by Urasue. Miroku became curious. Kaede says to Inuyasha her older sister Kikyō said that her Sacred Jewel was stolen by him and doesn't he think it's strange that the man who disguised himself as him and why he could have made his escape with the Sacred Jewel yet he tricked him into terrorizing the village and going after the Sacred Jewel and then Kikyō sealed you to the Sacred Tree and asks did he want to make them despise each other or was he trying to fill Kikyō's heart with hate and bitterness. Inuyasha becomes confused. Kaede says in Kikyō's possession the Sacred Jewel remained pure but when her heart became unclean and hateful the Sacred Jewel also became unclean and filled with evil strength and at that time, only one person would have hoped for that. Inuyasha and Miroku became curious. Kaede asks if Inuyasha and Miroku if she wants to go there where this man lived. In the fields, Kaede says Kikyō had decided so. Inuyasha questioned that Kikyō had harbored a thief. Kaede says Kikyō did because he was unable to move at all. When they arrived at a cave, Kaede says the thief called himself Onigumo and he had terrible burn scars over his entire body and his face, especially, was badly burned and probably fell from a cliff both his legs were broken and still he lived and was unable to move but slowly healed and was able to speak however his true self emerged.

In a flashback, a young Kaede is washing a cloth. Onigumo calls out to Kaede, who says her name. Onigumo says to Kaede that Kikyō has something called the Sacred Jewel. Kaede asks Onigumo how does he know about the Sacred Jewel. Onigumo says all bad men are after it. Kaede asks Onigumo if he was too. Onigumo says he understand that the more evil the Sacred Jewel absorbs the more evil it becomes and how nice it is. Kaede says her older sister Kikyō has it under control and it will not be corrupted. Onigumo says Kikyō is always so self-righteous and he'd like to see her worried and scared and how that would give him a rush. Kikyō and Kaede are picking herbs. Kikyō says to Kaede that Onigumo said those words. Kaede says to Kikyō that she doesn't like Onigumo. Kikyō tells Kaede to forgive him and he will probably never be able to move from there. Kaede says shortly thereafter Kikyō sealed Inuyasha to the Sacred Tree and died and several days later when she went there to visit Onigumo but the cave was burned down and the flames must have been huge and Onigumo was unable to escape and perished, leaving no bones not even a sign or so she thought. Inuyasha asks Kaede wasn't Onigumo a human and the Naraku he seeks is a demon. Kaede says to Inuyasha he is correct and no matter how weak and evil Onigumo was still human and no mistake about it. Miroku asks if they can go inside the cave. Shippō tries to lift the tree from the Bone-Eater's Well but couldn't and says it won't budge and unless it fixed Kagome won't return then thinks will he ever see her again and thinks about what Inuyasha said. Shippō says to himself that Inuyasha is so willful and he will never speak to him ever again. Suddenly, a pack of wolves came and asks about Inuyasha, surprising Shippō. The demon wolf asks Shippō did he say Inuyasha.

When they go into the cave, Miroku asks Kaede what is that as no grass not even moss grows on this one spot. Kaede says that is where the paralyzed Onigumo rested. Miroku tries to feel the ground but immediately backs away and says he senses the spirit of a demon and the spirit which was left here decades ago. Kaede becomes confused. Miroku asks can it be that the one who left the evil here so that no grass grows is actually a human. Inuyasha says it's not a human but it's from a demon. Miroku questions how can a human like Onigumo possess such evil as would belong to a demon. Inuyasha, Miroku, and Kaede hear Shippō calling for help and appear out of the cave. Shippō, who is running away from a pick of wolves, calls out to Inuyasha. Inuyasha calls out to Shippō before he jumps forward. Shippō trips as the wolves prepares to attack. Inuyasha uses his Iron-Reaver Soul Stealer on the wolves as he holds Shippō, who immediately realizes that Inuyasha is bleeding. Inuyasha thinks to himself that his wound has reopened and sees a giant wolf demon, who asks if he's Inuyasha. Inuyasha asks the wolf demon who he was. The wolf demon says he is the guardian of Hell, Rōyakan. Kaede asks Rōyakan if he was the demon that guards the forest. Rōyakan says he was reborn and he has come to kill Inuyasha before he spits a number of three-eyed wolves out of his mouth towards him. Inuyasha lets go of Shippō and questions Rōyakan about killing him.

Miroku thinks to himself that he knows Inuyasha is in no condition to fight. Inuyasha and Miroku fight off the wolves. Miroku says it's useless to fight him. Rōyakan continues to spits a number of three-eyed wolves out of his mouth. Miroku says there's only one thing to use here before he uses his Wind Tunnel to suck the wolves in and closes it. Miroku tells Inuyasha to come over his direction. Rōyakan spits out a new pack of wolves out of his mouth as he says no way and the wolves head towards Miroku. Meanwhile, an unknown man in a white baboon cloak is sitting in a nearby tree and he had fragments of the Sacred Jewel in his hands as he says it was a brilliant idea to imbed a Sacred Jewel fragment in Rōyakan. Inuyasha uses his Iron-Reaver Soul Stealer on the wolves again but is still in pain. Shippō calls out to Inuyasha in worry. Inuyasha says his vision is getting blurry. Miroku sucks the wolves in with his Wind Tunnel again. Kaede tells Miroku that Inuyasha's in danger. Miroku agrees but says there's only one way if he can swallow up Rōyakan before he closes his Wind Tunnel and grabs his shakujō and threw it at Rōyakan. Miroku ran towards Rōyakan and says they can win before he opened his Wind Tunnel and tried to suck in Rōyakan, who smashed the ground creating large rocks. Miroku closed his Wind Tunnel and discovered Rōyakan was gone, only a large hole and says he escaped. Kaede stands up and runs towards Inuyasha. The unknown man says he should've made Rōyakan a bit stronger before he disappears. Kaede asks Inuyasha if he is alright. Inuyasha asks where's Rōyakan. Kaede says Rōyakan's escaped. Miroku says to Inuyasha that Naraku is near. Inuyasha and Kaede become surprised. Miroku says Rōyakan is probably under control by Naraku who has a Sacred Jewel fragment. Kaede says no wonder such a gentle demon like Rōyakan has turned so evil. Inuyasha stands up and tries to walks away and calls out to Naraku and wonders where he is and if he's here to come out and fight him. Inuyasha suddenly collapses. Shippo and Kaede walk towards Inuyasha as Shippo calls out to him. Kaede tells Miroku that Rōyakan may come back again and they should return to the village, Miroku agrees. Shippo calls out to Inuyasha in worry.

Kagome has been back in the Modern Era for three days and is waiting for Inuyasha. In physical education class, Hōjō asks her to meet and her friends suspect that she likes someone else, but as evidence to the contrary, she agrees to Hōjō. Still she tries to get through the well, but of course it doesn't work.

At night in the Feudal Era, Inuyasha had his hands tied behind his back by his friends and locked in a hut with Shippō. Inuyasha repeatedly demands for some to open the doors as he kicks the hut. Shippō tells Inuyasha it's useless as the hut is plastered with charms to keep demons out. Inuyasha asks why must he be sealed in and demands for the doors to be opened. Suddenly Kagome's voice tells Inuyasha to be still and rest, shocking Inuyasha as he stopped. 'Kagome' says to Inuyasha that his wound isn't healed yet. Inuyasha turns around and thinks it's Kagome. 'Kagome' giggles and asks Inuyasha if he would like her to sleep with him. Inuyasha notices the tail and realizes that 'Kagome' is Shippō then starts kicking Shippō for transforming into Kagome. Inuyasha angrily tells Shippō to not dare disguise himself like that again. Shippō tells Inuyasha to not get mad. The doors of the hut open up to reveal Miroku and Kaede with supplies. Miroku asks Inuyasha why was he still banging around. Inuyasha stops hitting Shippō and becomes angry at Miroku. Miroku says to Inuyasha charms are no use if he act like this. Inuyasha angrily asks to be let out of the hut and lunges forward only to be held down by Miroku's shakujō. Miroku tells Kaede to seal the door with the charm. Kaede complies. A short time, Kaede is putting ointment on Inuyasha's back. Miroku says to Inuyasha that he's not ready yet as he knows how eager he is but first his wound must heal completely. Kaede says to Inuyasha that Miroku's right and he can't underestimate Naraku and isn't that why he made Kagome go through the Bone-Eater's Well. Shippō thinks to himself that's why Inuyasha sent Kagome away. Miroku says to Inuyasha he doesn't want to die in vain and that's why he needs him to get well quickly. Kaede finishes putting ointment on Inuyasha who rises up as he tells Miroku to stop talking like a weakling and he's ready to fight anytime. Miroku tells Inuyasha to just stay still and get some sleep before he forcibly stomps on his back and says how many times must he repeat himself and calling him a dog. Kaede says to Miroku that Inuyasha's wound will reopen. Afterwards in the middle of the night, Shippō calls out to Inuyasha, who says what is it. Shippō asks Inuyasha he wonders how what Kagome is doing. Inuyasha becomes annoyed and tells Shippō to just forget about Kagome already then thinks to himself as long as she's alive and well something that's all and he doesn't want to see anymore women he knows die. In the woods, Rōyakan cowering in fear until he is visited by Naraku in his baboon pelt. Naraku says to Rōyakan he has looked for him. Rōyakan looks at Naraku and calls out to him before telling him to go away as he refuses to fight Inuyasha again and cowers in fear. Naraku says to Rōyakan that he's trembling. Rōyakan says to Naraku he doesn't want to be sucked into the Wind Tunnel and tells him to go away. Naraku tells Rōyakan he will take away the fear that is making him tremble as he takes out a shard of the Sacred Jewel. Rōyakan tells Naraku to stop. Naraku forced another shard of the jewel into Rōyakan's head. Rōyakan begins to succumbs against his will and runs away as Naraku disappears then stops and transforms, growing to a massive size, over twice the size of his original appearance, his head and face also resemble that of an ordinary wolf, his eyes become completely red as well, and his legs and arms also grow to a massive size, proportionate to his new body. Naraku becomes pleased with Rōyakan's transformation.

In the day, Miroku and Kaede are sitting and using sutra spells circled around the hut. Miroku says to Kaede to take care and it's coming, Kaede agrees. Suddenly a pack of three-eyed wolves come from the sky and towards the hut. Kaede says Rōyakan will not take a step further, Miroku nods. The three-eyed wolves are prevented from going further because a barrier. A newly transformed Rōyakan appears and asks where's Inuyasha. Shippō sees from the window and becomes surprised how Rōyakan has grown bigger. Rōyakan wonders where Inuyasha is, not seeing Miroku and Kaede. Kaede thinks to herself as long as our spell is active the hut where Inuyasha lies will be invisible. Miroku thinks to himself wondering what has happened to Rōyakan as he's different and he'll wager another Sacred Jewel fragment has been imbedded in him. Rōyakan continues to try to get through the barrier but fails. Naraku secretly watches nearby and says it's a pitiful defense. Miroku sees a spear coming towards Kaede and calls out to her. Kaede tells Miroku to not move. Miroku says he must before he knocks it out of the way with his shakujō. The hut, Miroku, and Shippō becomes visible. Rōyakan says he can Inuyasha now before he jumps and smashes the hut Inuyasha and Shippō are in. Miroku and Kaede calls out to Inuyasha in worry. Inuyasha slices Rōyakan on the face, making Rōyakan cry out in pain. Inuyasha lands on the ground with his Tessaiga and tells Rōyakan thank you for releasing him as that Miroku and Kaede had him sealed up. Miroku and Kaede become annoyed. Kaede says she and Miroku were protecting Inuyasha. Miroku calls Inuyasha an ingrate. Rōyakan tells Inuyasha to die quietly before starts to attack him. Inuyasha dodges and tells Rōyakan to shut up before he tries to attack him with his Tessaiga. Inuyasha's attack is intercepted by Rōyakan's hands and is thrown away and lands on the ground. Kaede says Inuyasha has been thrown. Miroku says Inuyasha's all talk as his strength isn't back yet. Inuyasha wonders how did Rōyakan get so strong and realizes the large fragment of the Sacred Jewel he had lands on the ground. Rōyakan runs towards the large fragment of the Sacred Jewel and confirms it. Inuyasha weakly walks towards it and says he has to get to the fragments before Rōyakan does. Shippō quickly takes the large fragment of the Sacred Jewel before Rōyakan does and says he can't have them as he runs. Inuyasha calls out to Shippō. Rōyakan says to Shippō he won't get away before he spit a number of three-eyed wolves out of his mouth to chase him. Miroku prepares to use his Wind Tunnel and he tells Shippō he'll take over as he will use his Wind Tunnel. Kaede suddenly notices Naraku's Saimyōshō. Miroku decides not to use his Wind Tunnel. Inuyasha wonders to himself what he'll do. Shippō continues to run away from the three-eyed wolves.

Notes[]

Differences from the manga[]

  • The anime omits the scene of a fake Kikyō appearing in Onigumo's cave in Naraku's effort to provoke Inuyasha.
  • In the anime, Rōyakan escapes Miroku's Kazaana by slamming on the ground. In the manga, however, Miroku closes his Kazaana right before Rōyakan is sucked in in an effort to find out who set Rōyakan up to attack Inuyasha.
  • When Naraku gives Rōyakan another Shikon shard in the manga, he finds Rōyakan in a cave and inserts the shard along with a seed that will crush Rōyakan's head. In the anime, however, Naraku finds Rōyakan in a forest, and the Shikon shard has no such seed on it.
