Summary[]
Tsubaki continues with her curse on Kagome. Tsubaki's summoned demon is still fighting the inferior Inuyasha, who is not allowed to use Tessaiga, otherwise Tsubaki would destroy Kagome instantly. However, Miroku believes she will kill Kagome whether Inuyasha wins or not and joins into help him but helps very little. So Inuyasha has to defend himself like this, but his Blades of Blood works surprisingly well, unfortunately only Tsubaki shows herself seems to be annoyed and inflicts new pain on Kagome then the huge wolf rises again and its wound heals.
Miroku now wants to kill Tsubaki, because she will get Kagome out of the way anyway, although it would be enough if Tsubaki's snake demon were killed. So Sango now supports Inuyasha while Miroku goes off to Tsubaki with his sutras, but both turn out to be unsuccessful. Then she sends another burst of pain to Kagome, who then passes out.
Tsubaki then traps Kagome's mind in a modern era illusion. Kagome now hears her alarm clock and her mother's voice. She then goes downstairs confused that she is no longer in the feudal era and asks her family when she came back from the feudal era. However, they do not know anything about her trips there and they also do not remember Inuyasha and think that Kagome is something off the wind. This now goes to the well and finds it closed and sealed. Thoughtful, Kagome goes to school and then asks her friends if they still remember her boyfriend, which they say yes - but they mean Hōjō in order to. They don't know anything about "the possessive snob", as they call him. However, there are many memories of the Feudal Era in the world, but all of them are overlooked. As Kagome continues her life in the modern era, Buyo turns into Kirara, Miroku and Sango run towards her on the street, and Kaede and Shippō buy a Shikon Jewel keychain from Grandpa Higurashi. After school, Hōjō and Kagome are walking together, she still feels the pain of the jewel shards, but the memory of the Feudal Era fades noticeably until she hears an arrow hit a target.
Hōjō becomes concerned about Kagome. Kagome apologizes to Hōjō before she immediately runs over to target areas. Hōjō calls out to Kagome. A woman that looks like Kikyō tells the other women archers to prepare then tells Kagome that she's finally come. Kagome stands in silence. The woman that looks like Kikyō asks Kagome if she wants to try. Kagome becomes confused. The woman that looks like Kikyō asks Kagome isn't that why she's here as she offers her a bow. Kagome accepts the bow. The woman that looks like Kikyō points towards one of the targets and tells Kagome that target. Kagome stands near a target as she prepares to shoot. The woman that looks like Kikyō tells Kagome to aim well. Kagome tells the woman that looks like Kikyō tells 'okay'. The woman that looks like Kikyō tells Kagome that her line is well. Kagome thinks to herself to hit the mark before shoots the arrow at the target but she misses the center. The woman that looks like Kikyō tells Kagome that she has much to learn and her concentration is lacking as she walks away then stops. Kagome tries to ask to the woman that looks like Kikyō who was she. The woman that looks like Kikyō asks Kagome who was she. Kagome becomes confused. The woman that looks like Kikyō asks Kagome who was she again. Kagome says 'I'. The woman that looks like Kikyō asks Kagome was she her and as it is she'll end up killing Inuyasha yet again. Kagome becomes as she asks the woman that looks like Kikyō about Inuyasha then feels a pain in her neck as she kneels to the ground.
In the Feudal Era, Sango tells Kagome to hang on. Inuyasha becomes annoyed as he continues to battle the demon. Kagome calls out to Inuyasha. In the Illusion, Kagome continues to grab her neck. Kikyō walks away. Kagome tells Kikyō to wait as she must get out of this world before she runs after her. Kikyō continues to walk forward. Kagome tells Kikyō that she said wait. Kikyō stops and looks at Kagome and asks her who was she. Kagome tells Kikyō that now isn't the time as she continues to run. Kikyō tells Kagome this world is her illusion and she has decided who she is and to answer who is she. Kagome wakes up.
Kagome wakes up from the illusion and shoots one of her arrow almost hitting Tsubaki, shocking her that Kagome can still move. However, she mocks Kagome saying that while she is Kikyō's reincarnation, she is not Kikyō herself but a mere imitation. Kagome angrily then states, "I am Kagome! I am no one else!" She shoots another arrow but misses again, much to Tsubaki's amusement. In the distance on a cliff, Kikyō watches before turning and walking away. Tsubaki then begins to further defile the Shikon Jewel, suffocating Kagome who collapses to the ground. Then Tsubaki lets a large number of demons escape from her eye, and Inuyasha and his friends have to work very hard to defeat them. Tsubaki's demon, who has a head again, launches at Kagome in her weakened state, but Inuyasha, vowing he will never let them kill her, slays the demon before killing Tsubaki's demon serpent. They think that Kagome's curse will now be broken, but Tsubaki reveals that either way, Kagome will die. She then releases many more demons saying they all will die as well.
Inuyasha, Miroku and Sango then fight the demons before realizes the demons were a mere distraction as Tsubaki's serpent, who healed from Inuyasha's attack, goes to kill Kagome. Inuyasha and the others realize they will not make it in time to save Kagome. However Kagome, refusing to let herself be attacked yet again, pulls herself up again and hits the serpent right back at Tsubaki in the same manner that Kikyō defeated her 50 years ago. The curse is broken and Tsubaki is horrified. The defiled Shikon Jewel Tsubaki was using for the curse purifies and the shards of the Shikon Jewel come out of Kagome's throat. Before they could grab it, Tsubaki starts to escape and Inuyasha tries to stop her with the Wind Scar, but her demons saved her. Inuyasha and the group goes to check on Kagome, who's curse has finally been broken.
Far off, Naraku knows that Tsubaki has lost, Kagura questions letting Tsubaki live retaining the Sacred Jewel. Naraku response that he wants to give her a second chance for revenge before going to retrieve the Sacred Jewel, since every servant is fine with him. Resting, Tsubaki power's have waned and her demons have now all perished. However she remains confident she will how greater power with the Shikon Jewel in her possession and vows revenge on Inuyasha and Kagome. Returning to the village where Shippō and Kaede are already waiting, Inuyasha is carrying an exhausted Kagome on his back apologizes saying the days events only happened to her because she was with him. However, Kagome tells him it was alright saying she was with him of her own free will, causing Inuyasha to smile.

- In the illusion scenes in chronological order, one sees first, briefly, Miroku and Sango, then Kaede and Shippō, at the temple, only Shippō is a young child, not a kitsune.
- The destruction of Tsubaki's demons is recycled for whenever a large group of demons is destroyed by the Wind Scar.
- During Tsubaki's spell, the window in Kagome's bedroom has frames through the glass. But in the real world in her time period there isn't any.
