Shōsetsu InuYasha (小説犬夜叉, "InuYasha Novel") is a novelization written by Tomoko Komparu and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. It has been published by Shogakukan and is the first time when Kagome's family history is presented. The novel is in Japanese.

The book is a novelization of the first ten chapters of the manga, corresponding to episodes 1 to 4 of the anime. It was published by Shogakukan and released on December 10, 2004. It is the first time some events are presented such as how Kagome arrived in Kaede's village and how Kagome's wounds from Mistress Centipede healed so quickly.
