Writing style of InuYasha characters' names[]
I have a thing that I wanna share with you guys, since I learnt Japanese words about 6 years until nowadays, I believe most of them still confuse on what's the difference between adding 'u' or opposite. Let us take some examples for several characters' names:
Sesshōmaru, Menōmaru, Myōga, Moryōmaru and so on...
(せっしょうまる、めのうまる、みょうが、もりょうまる…)
Those characters have 'ō' between their names, while we read or type by following the rules of Japanese words, it will be:
Sesshoumaru, Menoumaru, Myouga, Moryoumaru and so on...
In other words, we should pronoun 'ō' longer than normal 'o'. If we less reading or typing 'u' (う) this word, it could be turned out another kanji or did not have this kind of words. Another example:
Typing laws at computer:-
- Sesshoumaru - せっしょうまる (Hiragana form) - 殺生丸 (Kanji form)
- Sesshomaru - せっしょまる (Hiragana form) - セッショまる (Katakana and Hiragana form, in other words odd words creates from losing 'u')
Most of us finding our favourite characters' pictures from Google only use Sesshomaru and less using Sesshoumaru. Although we cannot say we will not find a thing by using this specific word Sesshoumaru, maybe they appear in small quantity. But if somebody needs to find pictures by using Japanese words, he/she had to use the first one instead of using the second one, one biggest possibility while using the second one will cause many unexpected problems.
In InuYasha Wiki, we had no choice but to follow the writing policy. Since Sesshomaru this name can be pronoun as "Sesshoumaru", in here we should change shou into shō, so with the other with having same similarities.
