Shintarō (新太郎, "New") is son of the village chief. When his father never returned from Hijiri Island, he begged the villagers to let him go, but they refused, as he was the next village headman. When Inuyasha's gang came, they helped him and took him to the island. Shintarō found out his father was killed by demons when he and Inuyasha's gang got to the island. He witnessed the battle between Inuyasha and Bankotsu. He is the only brother of three older sisters, which prompts Miroku to directly offer to help one of them and her sisters "bear sons," which naturally incurs the instant wrath of Sango. This sister wonders out-loud if she and her sisters can safely entrust Shintarō with Miroku as they all shy away from him.
