Tokyo (東京, とうきょう) is the largest city in Japan and the de-facto capital, as it is the seat of the country's government. Contained in one of its many wards is the Higurashi shrine, where Kagome Higurashi lives, and nearby is also her junior high school. During the feudal era, the city was known as Edo. It was not as large as it currently is, and the area around Kagome's home was, back then, in some woods near Kaede's village.
